Pelican hooks are used as components of chain stoppers, including anchor chain stoppers. The hooks are intended to prevent chain releasing in voyage. The swing element of the pelican hook is secured by a special link and a key. If necessary the pelican hook allows quickly releasing the load or line even in case of tight chain by removing the pin and pushing back the link.
